About
Who Am I?
Hi! I’m Francesca. My pronouns are she/they, and I am a college student from Phoenix, Arizona. My passions include literature, the visual arts, and radical progressive pedagogy.
I’ve been interested in radical leftism and feminism ever since middle school. I remember receiving mini Wollstonecraft books as birthday gifts, attending pro-choice protests hand in hand with my mother, and arguing with history teachers for what I stood for. However, my sophomore and junior years of high-school are when I really garnered the confidence to act on these interests. Through community engagement, classes not offered by my school curriculum, and of course, my YouTube channel, I’ve been building on my dreams of not only seeing real change, but helping to create it.
About the project— my goals for Gendered Realities
The reasons why I started Gendered Realities are that I wanted to learn how to construct effective arguments, improve my research skills, and educate people on the intersections between gender and sexuality.
Before I started my YouTube channel, I remember the refuge I found in other creators/activists discussing in depth the injustice I saw on a daily basis. The more I educated myself, the more agency I felt I had. I want my channel to provide that kind of space— a channel where I and other people are free to converse about the topics of systemic oppression I analyze. Knowledge is power. More recently, I’ve decided to delve into a journey of actualizing my values through engaging with my communities.
